Why are we like this? Can we change!??!

gleaming IT parks

I was entering my office today at 9:30 AM, after parking my car at the dingy basement, with my laptop bag dangling from my right shoulder and my left hand holding my lunch bag. While swiping the card, through the translucent glass door, I could see a guy waiting for the elevator, and he did notice me near the glass door. So, the elevator came – he stepped in, closed the door and vanished. I was just about 15 feet from the elevator, just pushing the glass door open, and this guy had the slightest courtesy to wait for me (for a few seconds though!). From the tag and ID card color, I’m very sure that he’s an IT professional, and not an office boy with the company. Forget that, even an office boy or an uneducated person will definitely have the courtesy to wait – as his brain can ‘think’. Well, it is not the first time this is happening to me, probably the umpteenth time. How many of you open the door and hold it for someone to pass (not just for pretty ladies!)?. The essence of education is to impart sense and sensibility along with academic knowledge. Why’re people like this?

littering around garbage bins

The mannerisms do not change much on the road. Most of the violators are well-mannered (supposedly!), learned people. What has happened to us? People make more money/fast money than what they did a decade ago, but where has all the civic/common sense gone? The situation is pathetic! Most of the learned men in my street litter all over, inspite of having a huge garbage bin at both the ends of the 250 meter long street. Some are even more creative in littering ‘around’ the bin, making the job of the already over-worked and under-paid garbage remover miserable. Sometimes he gets fed up and leaves the litter around the garbage bin unattended.

In my opinion, education must bring in more awareness, courtesy and civic sense, not just high paying jobs at the top most floor of a IT company overlooking the city…the city below you is becoming a nasty place coz of the critical things that we overlook!

Be sensible and considerate!

We Indians will never learn. He hee
(mind it, I am not against cows sitting by the road, they are welcome, this is their land too. but as keepers we have the task to keep it clean for us and them (cows))

Garbage disposal is turning out to be a big problem, we like to dump responsibility on other (the municipality and so on, and this is our undoing.
In villages you cannot just dump your responsibility on any one. (you are responsible to keep your aangan and the villages chowraha clean)

True, I use the http://pgportal.gov.in/ extensively to get things right. They do respond, but you’ve to give some three months :( But as learned people, we can to a great extent keep our streets clean.
