Love failure. Well, this is very subjective. To many, living in progressive societies, if one relationship doesn’t work out good, they elegantly break-up, pursue another, or just go on with their lives.
But, what happens in a society that is governed by racism, casteism, and obnoxious movie makers that graciously portray suicides/attempts by unsuccessful couples in their movies? I was very much disturbed when my brother told me about his friend who immolated himself in front of his girl friend’s house – just another case of love failure taking it’s toll on a young man’s life.
As I mentioned in the beginning, ‘love failures‘ may be subjective. Almost everyone goes through this ordeal in their lives at one point of time. I know how bad one feels when they come to know that they cannot spend the rest of their life with the person that they loved so much – ‘coz of a lot of reasons – circumstantial, tragic or societal. Of the three, societal reasons form a major part of the love failures in a country like India.
Most that have experienced love failure in India, owing to societal reasons, would have at one point yearned for a society sans religion, caste and hatred. But the same society, that preaches hatred via religion, caste and financial statuses, become mute spectators when a person commits suicide. This instance becomes the talk of the town – ‘coz we can never stop gossiping, can we?
Even the young minds, though they are superior in intelligence compared to their parents and elder generation, succumb to the depiction of love and heart-breaks in movies. Some movies are good – there are exceptions though.
We live in a society governed by strong family values and bondage. Inter-caste and inter-religious love/marriage are still taboos in societies in most parts of the country. What else can you expect from a country that nurtures political parties founded on the basis of castes and religions, and not on moral?
At least, the younger generations must be taught to manage love failures – ‘coz life must go on! One doesn’t have the right to take his own life by way of suicide. Make sure you teach your kid the value of life. If he doesn’t value his, will he value the others? Never.
