Google Chrome OS – A boon for netbooks!

I just stumbled upon Google’s official blog to get a glimpse of the latest news and software development that’s been happening at their labs. I was quite surprised to see Google’s announcement of their forthcoming Chrome OS, targeted at netbooks, and at people who live-eat-and-sleep Internet!

This Chrome OS is a light-weight operating system built on a Linux kernel, and the users just need to fire-up their netbook’s browser to get this OS up and running.

They want their data to be accessible to them wherever they are and not have to worry about losing their computer or forgetting to back up files. Even more importantly, they don’t want to spend hours configuring their computers to work with every new piece of hardware, or have to worry about constant software updates.

Yes, this would be the most important factor when the number of computer users increase, with an ever increasing craving for high-speed computers, content and the accompanying data-protection and recovery needs. Sometimes, when I get fed up with the Windows and Linux operating systems, I used to wonder why no big market player is concentrating on Web-based operating systems – lessen the hassles, and make our lives less stressful. I previously talked about how disgusting Windows Vista is, and I’m just waiting for the tweaked version of Vista, known as Windows 7.

Thanks Google for your initiatives! Look forward to using your Chrome OS on a netbook that I might buy next year.
