Today’s theme – Architecture, travel
We all dream, irrespective of whether we work towards realizing the dream! Ludwig Friedrich Wilhelm II, King of Bavaria, popularly known as the fairy-tale King (der Märchenkönig in German), dreamt of a castle so beautiful that it inspired Walt Disney in the twentieth century. People who’ve been to Disneyland Park would have seen the Sleeping Beauty Castle, which is a reflection of King Ludwig II’s dream castle in Neuschwanstein, Bavaria.

When I reached Neuschwanstein, and looked up at the castle built on a small hill, I was in awe! No matter at what angle you look at the castle, you will get an uncontrollable urge to photograph it. It looks so fairy tale-ish that it reiterates the fact that the King lived in a world of his own, indeed! By and by, this is the most photographed building in Germany, according to Wikipedia.
Even if one has a lot of money and power, he may not be creative enough to build such an architectural wonder. The touch of King Ludwig II’s magic is not limited to the exteriors of the castle, but extends deep into his living room and bed room. Water from the springs is directed aesthetically, by the law of gravity, to the hand wash area in the King’s bedroom.
The King also constructed a small foot bridge, called the Marienbrücke, to enjoy the full view of his castle from a distance. It is from Marienbrücke that I took this picture! Wish I had a DSLR to capture every brick of the building in high resolution.
I was happy that I visited Neuschwanstein, but sad that I could not stay longer to digest the beauty in its entirety.
This is also in the list of places I would wanna visit again, before I die!

This is one of the most beautiful castles I’ve ever been to. Though a bit crowded by tourists. King Ludwig II was really mad, he realized his dreams. Too bad that Neuschwanstein was left unfinished.
No wonder Disney was inspired by the architecture of this castle. This monument of fantasy and dreams will continue to inspire young artists and honeymooners from around the world
