A R Rahman, India’s first music director to win Golden Globe Award

Well, I know this news has been circulating around the world, and ‘m sure that those who have been following A R Rahman’s work since his first album Roja got goose bumps. For your information, Roja is in the top ten of the top 100 all time best soundtracks from around the world recognized by Time.

Apart from his music, what I best like in Rahman is his humility and composed nature. I know most other people that come to the limelight show off a lot, or at least a bit. Just watch Rahman give the short and sweet speech when he received the Golden Globe award for his score for Slumdog Millionaire. He’s camera shy, and I believe that, at some corner of his heart, he hates too much publicity.

So here goes Rahman, thanking the Almighty (as usual..), and a list of others that he worked with. One thing that made him stand tall is that he thanked the billion people of India. I don’t think anybody would have included this in their thanks list, and most others would have made a generic comment like ‘I thank all those who supported me, my family, friends‘ and so on.
