
I was entering my office today at 9:30 AM, after parking my car at the dingy basement, with my laptop bag dangling from my right shoulder and my left hand holding my lunch bag. While swiping the card, through the translucent glass door, I could see a guy waiting for the elevator, and he did notice me near the glass door. So, the elevator came – he stepped in, closed the door and vanished. I was just about 15 feet from the elevator, just pushing the glass door open, and this guy had the slightest courtesy to wait for me (for a few seconds though!). From the tag and ID card color, I’m very sure that he’s an IT professional, and not an office boy with the company. Forget that, even an office boy or an uneducated person will definitely have the courtesy to wait – as his brain can ‘think’. Well, it is not the first time this is happening to me, probably the umpteenth time. How many of you open the door and hold it for someone to pass (not just for pretty ladies!)?. The essence of education is to impart sense and sensibility along with academic knowledge. Why’re people like this?
