When I created my twitter account some 10 months ago, I found the 140-character thingy very unique. However, I found it slightly annoying whenever I tried to post something on twitter, and invariably exceeded the limit. Sometimes, I even wished that twitter had a 300-character limit. Well, this was 10 months ago..
I did a micro-mini survey with 10 of my close friends, who are twitter fans. All of them gave the same kinda’ answers – surprising!
I’ve consolidated their answers below..
What do you think about the 140-character limit?
Helps us to be concise in expressing our thoughts. Strange to even think about the 140-character limit. Probably, 5 is their lucky number?
Do you think twitter must increase the character limit?
Not at all. The current limit is fine. Don’t wanna read 300-400 character messages on my time-line – it’s ridiculous.
What did you do when twitter went down for a few hours?
Refreshed the browser every other minute for 30 minutes. Then checked every hour. It’s an addiction man!
Are you are a die-hard twitter fan?
Well, you infer from the answer above..
Do you get it right (i.e. within 140 chars) the first time when you right a message on twitter?
Yes, more than 90% of the time. Rest 10%? Well, split the message into two and post – as simple as that.
How long do you take to respond to your direct messages?
Less than 2 minutes if it is between 10 AM and 10 PM
How long do you take to respond to your @replies?
Almost real-time!
What would you do to a person that finds twitter ridiculous?
Swear at him in 140 characters. Mind you, that’s too much swearing!
Did you notice something from the above answers? Well, they were all literally stuck to the 140-character limit when they responded.
Oh my, hope these guys don’t teach twitter to their kids. So, what would’ve been your answers to these questions?
P.S. I know the sample size is very small. However, it’s interesting to see 100% consistency in the responses.

whatever…and i thought you liked when i typed in long comments…what a waste of words..nobody reads more than 140 chars anymore!!what??
I still like longer things(things cant be anything..i mean only status messages)…at least FB allows more than 140 chars…LOL
