Obama’s inauguration speech – short, crisp and mindful

I’ve always admired Obama for his rhetorical abilities. His speech full of punches. No stammering, no mispronunciation, no nothing! Impeccable!!

Considering his relative inexperience (less than 5 years..) into American politics, his oratorical capability and electrifying personality has had a magnetic effect on the people worldwide – be it American, non-American or anti-American. I don’t know if his speeches are prepared by someone, or by himself or even extempore. But the end result is what matters the most, and it’s never below the Excellent mark.

I know that everyone liked his victory speech where he started his address greeting ‘Hello Chicago..‘ Yesterday, during the swearing in ceremony, I noted down certain parts of his inauguration speech that are exciting, crisp and mindful.

Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished.

We will not apologise for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.

To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society’s ills on the West – know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy.

To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.

Let it be said by our children’s children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God’s grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

This may not be Obama’s rhetoric best. Nevertheless, the world will be impressed if his thoughts and words translate into actions. Afterall, people see him as the President who has ended the divisive rule of Bush Jr.
