Today’s theme – art, travel, travel, religion
Art has been the centerpiece of all religions, old or new, on our planet. Ancient Indian civilizations, that collectively came to be known as the Hindus, were carving and painting on rocks for well over 5000 years.
Stained glass art has been in vogue for more than thousand years, spanning continents with the eventual spread of Christianity via missionaries and colonial rule. I’ve been admiring this art form since my first visit to the church, when I was 7 years old. Since then, though Christianity is not my religion, whenever I happen to visit a church, I gaze at the tall glass windows gracefully sporting stained glasses.
The picture above was taken by me at one of the old churches that was built during the thirteenth century A.D. I’m not sure of the name of this church, as I was more fascinated in drooling at the stained glass art work than getting to know the name of the church. I know that the art is conveying a message or narrating a story – I know not! But ‘m liking the deep red and blue combination, laid out with perfect contrast.
Can anyone tell me what this piece of stained glass art is trying to convey?
