The Soup and Salad Cafe – interesting stuff

The Soup and Salad Cafe – interesting stuff

By Naren Ubi on May 8, 2010

I thought this is just another cafe/restaurant in town trying to make or present conventional food in a different platter – just like the stupid Dosa Calling. I was wrong. The moment I stepped in to their Adyar outlet, it was a good feeling to smell the great aroma of fresh food. Nothing obnoxious or [...]

Nokia 2730 Classic – pros and cons

By Naren Ubi on May 2, 2010

There are umpteen websites that you can stumble upon for a review on this new Nokia 2730 Classic phone. Well, you end up getting a mixed review on this product. This is not a high-end phone for you to be relying on what the reviews say… Thought I would just list out some of the [...]

Mast Kalandar – bakwaas bandh kar..

By Naren Ubi on October 19, 2009

Well, people were going ga-ga over this restaurant, and recommended to me saying that it’s the real taste of Dilli (I mean, Delhi). I’m a foodie, and I leave no restaurant un-tasted. Stepped in, and found that the ambience is full of red, yellow and dark pink combo – to me, not too appetizing. When [...]

Rambha Bar – Hotel Palmgrove, Chennai

By Naren Ubi on June 21, 2009

Well, during tough times like ‘recession‘, salaried people like us tend to think twice before spending on food and drinks at premium bars, pubs and restaurants. Rambha bar, tucked inside the famous Palmgrove Hotel (Chennai), provides a conservative ambiance with good quality liquor. To many non-veg lovers, this place might be a slight let down [...]

Promenade Hotel – Pondicherry

By Naren Ubi on December 23, 2008

Well, ’twas a trip long overdue. Started the holidays with a big bash at Pondicherry. @Promenade Hotel – facing the beach, crystal clear Vodka, Scotch Whiskey and Wine. What else can one ask for when among a group of friends? Food, drinks, gossips, and frequent guffaws. The table was laid outside, and the weather was [...]

WordPress 2.7 – First look and impressions!

By Naren Ubi on December 12, 2008

Yesterday, the much awaited Wordpress 2.7, code named ‘Coltrane’, was released to the general public and avid bloggers who were waiting to pounce on the stable release. Though I know it’s a bit too early to try it out, I decided to upgrade and test it on my fairly new blog What’s Happening? – Broadcast right now!

Since it’s a new blog (not even a month old!), it didn’t have many posts, and none of the posts used custom fields nor images. So, in the event of something going wrong with the upgrade, I can just do a quick restore from the XML file that I had exported earlier. More info and screenshots after the jump..

Arusuvai Arasu – a restaurant to be avoided!

By Naren Ubi on December 12, 2008

Well, went on a long drive along the East Coast Road until Pondicherry and returned the next day afternoon. On the way, just close to Mayajal, stumbled upon this restaurant called Arusuvai Arasu. It looked like a typical South-Indian restaurant, serving lunch meals on banana leaf. So, we thought that we will, for a change, [...]
