Probably, you would have come across such topics a zillion times – enabling browsers go social. However, this time it’s from the Internet technology giant, Google.
Google has announced a new product called Google Sidewiki. Just like the Google Toolbar, you can install Sidewiki in your Internet Explorer (IE 6+ versions) and Firefox (version 2+). Strangely enough, I couldn’t see any support mentioned for its home grown browser – Google Chrome.
So, this product enables you to publish and share information (via Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, etc) as you browse a particular webpage, and also read those popular entries about that webpage. It does ring a bell now. Some time ago, I wrote about a similar product called Kutano.
Though it might sound similar with other sociable products aimed at web browsers, Google can make a difference to itself, thanks to its huge install base. Almost every other person with Internet access has a Google account. I presume it would be a cake walk for Google in this sociable-browsers domain. But, who knows, even the giant stumbles!
What say you? Would you install and play with this little tool?
